Equiteq is pleased to announce that it acted as exclusive financial advisor to Assurity Consulting and Surety Solutions, leading independent software quality consultancies in New Zealand and Australia, on their sale to Aspire Systems, a global technology services firm with over 4,500 employees worldwide.
The transaction marks a major milestone for Assurity and Surety, creating a quality engineering powerhouse of nearly 900 experts across the region and the globe. The combination strengthens Aspire’s regional presence and accelerates the delivery of world class AI driven software quality and testing solutions to clients across Australasia.
Founded in Wellington, Assurity has long been recognised as a market leader in software quality consultancy, supporting public and private sector organisations with deep expertise in assurance, transformation, and testing. By joining Aspire Systems, the firm gains access to global scale, AI tools, and advanced engineering capabilities that will shape the future of quality testing and automation.
“The technology landscape is shifting tectonically. As AI accelerates software delivery, the old methods of quality assurance simply cannot keep up,” said Garth Hamilton, Director and Co-Founder of Assurity. “To continue to lead this disruption, we needed global scale and deep technical capability. By joining forces with Aspire, we are doing more than just fortifying our business for the next decade. We are unlocking a direct pipeline of AI tools and global expertise for our clients in New Zealand and Australia. We are moving from a local leader to a global player.”
Reflecting on the decision to sell after 20 years of independence, Hamilton shared an African proverb that has guided Assurity’s leadership: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with a group.”
“For 20 years, Assurity has gone alone, and we have gone fast,” he said. “Now, facing a future defined by AI and global connectivity, we are choosing to go far.”
Commenting on Equiteq’s role in the transaction, Garth Hamilton, commented: “Equiteq were a true partner throughout — from crystallising our value proposition for buyers, to navigating a complex cross-border transaction and keeping all parties aligned through the entire process. Their judgement and execution helped us deliver the right outcome with the right buyer.”
Alex Monck, Managing Director at Equiteq, added: "It was a pleasure to work with Garth, Darren, James and Leon. They’ve built a highly regarded quality engineering business and a leading software testing capability in the region. We’re proud to have supported them through this sale process and look forward to following their next chapter.”
